Uganda's NERICA (New Rice for Africa) Receives $6 million Grant from Japan

"The National Crop Resources Research Institute (Naccri) has received $6 million from the Republic of Japan for the construction of a regional training centre for farmers and scientists majoring in rice production. "

"The researchers are currently training seed companies, farmers and interested stakeholders on techniques of growing rice with an aim of obtaining good quality varieties. They also advice the farmers to buy quality seeds for planting every season other than keeping old seeds which may not give good yields."
