FDA Approves GM Salmon

On 3 September AP reported that the United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA) had approved the commercialization of gene-modified (GM)  salmon as requested by Aqua Bounty Technologies Inc.  This approval means that FDA regulator has certified that the GM salmon known as AquAdvantage is safe to eat and poses no risk to public health safety.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has set a three-day public meeting starting 19 September 2010 on the fish.
