Burundi Releases 2 New Hybrid Rice Varieties

On 15 December 2011, IRRI and the Burundi Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock announced the approval of two new varieties of hybridized rice.  Known as IR77713 and IR79511, they were created to meet local conditions and match farmer and consumer expections.  This included consideration of yield and taste.
